Tizeti, a Nigerian-based internet service provider (ISP), has launched an internet voice-calling service, WifiCall.ng. A service the ISP is targeting both individual and corporate customers.
WifiCall is a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and Tizeti is offering the service on subscription. Whereby the users can make unlimited calls to any phone numbers, even the ones not registered under the WifiCall network. That is as long as your subscriptions are still active, of course.
The WifiCall is currently only available in Nigeria, but Tizeti has made public its plan to expand to other markets across Africa. That would only be possible in countries with proper ICT infrastructure; then again, most countries on the continent have been improving on that front.
With WifiCall, Tizeti is going up into competition against VoIP heavyweights including Skype, WhatsApp, and other multinational telecommunication companies.
In an interview with TechCrunch, Kendall Ananyi the co-founder and CEO of Tizeti, said: “On the low end we’re competing with the mobile providers. WifiCall gives you a real number and it’s cheaper. But we’re also offering enterprise options you would not get with a mobile connection or even WhatsApp.”
