Telkom Kenya, in partnership with Meelin Media Limited and the Nairobi County Government, has set up three internet Wi-Fi hotspots across Nairobi.
Dubbed Link Kenya Project, the initiative is meant to bridge the internet access gap in Kenya by providing a free and fast internet connection to people out and about Nairobi. The hotspots will be at the Aga Khan Walk, Ambassador, and Memorial Park.
The Link Kenya Project has erected double-sided 55” LCD displays on the three spots that will be showing paid ads to support the free internet Wi-Fi program.
“This initiative is a boost to the government’s efforts to bridge existing gaps in internet connectivity. Whereas internet penetration has grown over the last few years, thanks to the mobile phone, sections of the population still cannot enjoy it owing to prohibitive costs,” said Telkom Enterprise Managing Director Kris Senanu.
