A Microsoft exec has made a rather bizarre statement seen by many to only serve to benefit its rival. Get this, the exec has warned PC users from using Internet Explorer for everything, as it is not a browser. Well, I will be damned. So is Internet Explorer is not a browser?
Actually, what the exec meant to say is that IE is a ‘compatibility solution’ for enterprise customers who have to deal with legacy websites that have not been updated for viewing on modern browsers.
This astonishing remark came from Chris Jackson, the lead for worldwide cybersecurity at Microsoft. He warned IE users not to use the browser for all their online traffic. On the other hand, some organizations keep encouraging their customers to access their site via the IE browser.
Such organizations have to pay Microsoft to keep supporting their legacy software. However, Jackson says that Microsoft is moving to discourage this habit and somewhat force such organizations to support modern software.
